Long coupled pumps

Design and principle of operation

The casing of the long coupled centrifugal pump is made of cast iron. It has a stable base, called support feet, as well as holes for the inlet and outlet. Large equipment is installed on foundation slabs. The centrifugal type pump is equipped with an impeller with blades curved in the direction opposite to the rotational movement. Structurally, they connect two flat rounded elements together, making together a single working body. The disks acquire a three-dimensional shape, and the original “wings” become a rigid mount.

The wheel is placed in the chamber and connected to the electric drive. When the equipment is started, it begins to rotate, creating:vacuum – in the central part;pressure is at the periphery.

As a result, centrifugal forces arise that suck water from the supply pipeline and move it into the pressure system. The process of moving the liquid occurs under the action of the difference in pressure levels of the flow at the inlet to the housing, inside the chamber and at the outlet from it. All cantilever centrifugal pumps work according to this principle.

By means of flexible elements, the pump is connected to the pipelines, and if it is necessary to replace or repair it, it can be disconnected without dismantling the pipes.
